Simon Fonteyn

Simon is one of Australia’s leading experts on retail rental valuations. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of NSW, Master of Management from Macquarie University and an Associate Diploma in Property Valuation. Simon is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute, and a Registered Valuer. Simon is an accredited court appointed retail valuation expert. He is employed by the Supreme Court and NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal Court for his expertise in retail determinations and expert evidence. Simon is a guest lecturer in Property at University of Technology Sydney and other educational institutions.

With over 30 years’ experience in the commercial property industry, he founded Leasing Information Systems, a specialist research house that provides retailers and landlords with extensive retail leasing intelligence. Leasing Information Systems tracks and monitors retail leases in hundreds of Shopping Centres and Shopping Strips throughout Australia.

Simon Fonteyn has a wealth of practical property experience, contract knowledge and vast databank of competitive leasing intelligence which he uses to conduct Feasibility Studies, Retail and Commercial Valuations and Property Research.

Recently he has been heavily involved in pioneering work in the use of Artificial Intelligence to automate lease abstraction and founded Accurait (www.accurait.com.au) in partnership with CSIRO’s Data 61.  He has also developed a complete module in the valuation of leases for the Accounting Standard AASB 16 – Leases on Balance Sheet. This experience has allowed him to develop deep expertise in property technology assignments for lease and property system selection and contract specifications and property technology advisory.
